Steel wire rope lubrication maintenance status
Wire rope is generally in open working conditions, the environment is relatively harsh, rust and corrosion often occur. People generally regard wire rope as an industrial material, but in fact it is composed of a number of moving components (steel wire, rope, core, etc.). When the wire rope is stretched, bent and twisted, each steel wire and the lining core have friction and wear respectively and between each other.
The traditional method of lubricating the steel wire rope is generally artificial, and the grease (oil) is coated on the steel wire rope with a brush or other absorbent tools, and the grease (oil) is difficult to enter the inside of the steel wire rope, and the effect is not good.
How to lubricate and maintain wire rope
1. Wear and tear in the use of wire rope
Continuous wear and adhesive wear appear in the actual contact friction parts; Abrasive wear is caused by adhesion and incorporation of dust and abrasive; If the wire rope is exposed to moisture, acid, alkaline gas environment will cause corrosion and chemical erosion; Due to overload, impact or excessive bending, the steel wire structure changes and the strength decreases, resulting in fatigue, which is a form of sudden damage that is not easily detected but gradually accumulated.
Due to the excessive pressure between the steel wire, the steel wire and the rope wheel, the drum wheel, the oil film strength is insufficient, and the impression and deformation appear. Wear due to the frictional heat brought about by direct contact with metal.
2. Lubrication maintenance
(1) Filling method of lubricating oil. Infiltration method: the dirt, dust, sludge, etc. in the gap of the wire rope strands are cleaned with superheated steam or compressed air and a steel brush, and then the oil is immersed in the oil bath, and the oil used should be heated to about 50℃ in order to penetrate. The infiltration interval was once every 3 months under normal temperature conditions. You can also use a portable oil can with an oil brush or a special oil feeder, the former is used for short wire ropes. The lubrication interval is about once every 5 days, and once every 3 days under dusty sand, high temperature or open air conditions.
(2) Filling method of grease. The ideal way to fill the lubricant is to add the lubricant to the wire rope through the wheel or winding near the rope strands tend to open. Lubricants can be added manually or mechanically.
Selection of commonly used lubricants
1. Requirements for lubricants
The primary function of wire rope lubricant is lubrication. In the use of steel wire to maintain its lubricity as long as possible, the grease is first required to have a certain high and low temperature performance. The measurement of high temperature performance is the drop point, the measurement of low temperature performance is the low temperature brittleness point, to ensure that high temperature does not drip, low temperature is not brittle. The second is that the lubricant has good adhesion in the working environment, especially in the specific temperature and high-speed pumping to maintain its adhesion, and will not be thrown off.
The second property of wire rope lubricant is rust resistance. Current standard:
GB/T2361-1980 anti-rust grease temperature test method, petrochemical industry standard SH/T0081-1991 "Anti-rust grease salt spray test method", is recognized in the industry more suitable detection method, can meet the performance requirements of steel wire rope grease. In practical applications, often due to the poor adhesion of grease, it is lost or fallen off in a very short time in the early days of use, and can not play the role of anti-rust. Port machine users and petroleum enterprise users require the steel rope grease to have better adhesion to prevent the steel rope grease from falling off and polluting the environment.
Friction enhancing properties of lubricant for wire rope. Mine friction wheel hoist depends on the friction of wheel, liner and rope to transfer power to achieve the purpose of lifting, the coal mine safety regulations put forward mandatory requirements. When visiting large coal mines, managers also pointed out that the use of inferior grease will cause the steel wire rope to slip, and the removal of grease will cause the phenomenon of decreased performance, and they are eager to hope that the steel wire rope grease has a better frictional effect. In addition, the elevator rope also has the requirement of increasing friction.
Environmental performance of wire rope lubricants. Elevator, ropeway and other steel wire rope, the use of manufacturers have put forward environmental requirements, port machinery rope, oil wire rope, customers hope that the steel wire rope is pollution-free to the working environment. The steel wire rope used for elevator and ropeway requires that the chemical composition of grease does not contain mineral resins, prevents environmental pollution and is easy to clean. During the use of steel wire rope, it can not be heated and oiled like steel wire rope production enterprises, and it can only be coated with oil on the surface, so the oil should have easy construction and good permeability at room temperature.

3. Common lubricants
China petrochemical industry standard SH/T0387-1992 "Steel wire rope surface grease", SH/T388 "steel wire rope core grease", domestic general type, used at -30 ~ 70℃ temperature.
Great Wall brand steel wire rope grease is used for the lubrication and sealing of steel wire rope and guide rail, clamp, slide, chain, can be used at -20 ~ 80℃ temperature.
IRIS IRIS-255 wire rope surface grease is a high performance grease refined from high performance resin, rust inhibitor, lubricant, stabilizer and bonding agent, with excellent adhesion, lubrication, rust resistance and high drop point, without asphalt. Applied to a wide temperature range of -40 ~ 80℃.
Beale Wire Rope Lubrication spray High performance dry film wire rope lubrication spray containing molybdenum disulfide, graphite and extreme pressure additives. It is especially suitable for the steel wire rope as anti-wear, anti-wear and anti-corrosion lubrication in the wet and corrosive environment of ports and wharfs. Operating temperature range: -20 ~ 120℃.
LE's 2001MONOLEC wire rope lubricant is a highly penetrating liquid lubricant with excellent load capacity. The inner harness of the wire rope can be permeated and filled, whether the wire rope is at rest or in operation.
Becco TACBECON105WR is a semi-fluid grease containing molybdenum disulfide, which is resistant to water and prevents corrosion from seawater (air containing chemicals). Small amount per unit area, high temperature resistance up to 150℃.
